Animal Welfare Meetup: The "Save Our Bacon Act" and How to Get Involved

  • Workshop House 1717 15th Street Northwest Washington, District of Columbia, 20009 United States (map)

Join EA DC at Workshop House for a discussion of the "Save Our Bacon Act" (SOB Act). The SOB Act is a federal bill that would override state farm-animal-welfare laws such as California's Prop 12 and Massachusetts's Question 3. The act passed the House in April (as part of the Farm Bill) and is now before the Senate, making it one of the most consequential farm animal welfare measures in years.

We'll be joined by Brianna DelDuca, Policy Specialist for DC Voters for Animals Education Fund and previously a Regulatory Specialist at the Humane Society Legislative Fund, who has worked directly on this legislation and brings a deep background in animal law and policy. She'll walk through what the bill does, where it stands, how it fits into the larger picture of US animal welfare law, and how you can get involved.

Whether you've never heard of the SOB Act or are already involved in animal welfare policy advocacy, we'd love to have you. Please RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount.
